The world of automotive accessories is growing day by day. With more vehicles being able to be fitted with aftermath accessories, the market as a whole has become a billion-dollar space where every day various different parts are being sold and exchanged. While most of them are performance-related accessories, there are also others that are purely aesthetical.

No matter the type of accessory you go for you can count on the aftermarket to have it available in the style and colour you want. Aftermarket parts and accessories are well and true here to stay since they are affordable and can be rather easy to install if you know what to look for in the first place. The same goes for car floor mats.

Benefits of New Car Mats

Protection

Aftermarket accessories are still new accessories and new mats are able to keep the floor of your vehicle safe from all sorts of calamities. This could be the claws of your dog, the spill of a soda can, crumbs, dirt and grime. With new aftermarket car mats, you can expect your car's floor to be in good shape as long as you keep the mats in good shape.

Cleanliness

A good way to keep the floor of your car in good shape is to also keep it clean and mats can help with that too. While you won't rid yourself of cleaning it altogether, you'll still be able to make things a lot easier. You'll clean the mat more than you will the floor and car floor mats are much easier to clean than the floor.

Appearance

An aspect of mats that not everyone seems to consider is their appeal. The appearance of your mats can change the appearance of your car's interior. Their subtle yet noticeable appearance can help make your car a lot more enjoyable to be in.

Types of Car Mats

Rubber

The most common type of car mat you'll come across when it comes to durability is one made of rubber. Rubber vehicle floor mats are also rather easy to clean and they are better off during the rainy season. But as is with rubber, if it's oil that you find on it, it won't offer any grip and your shoes will slip making it difficult to maintain contact on the pedals especially if you need to shift gears.

Fabric

With fabric mats, you get the best solution for hot days as fabric mats are not going to increase the temperature inside your car and they are going to collect dust a lot better than rubber mats. Remember though that fabric mats are not able to keep moisture in one place so you'll have water go everywhere but the mats. Like rubber mats though they are easy to clean and even more affordable.

3D

No, you don't need certain types of glasses to see these mats, but what you will need is the exact dimensions of your foot well in order to make them fit. That's because the mats have high sides that cover part of the centre console making for the most fitting mats you'll ever have in your car. They are able to contain spills well but will cost you a lot more than both rubber and fabric mats.

Vinyl

Vinyl vehicle floor mats are similar to rubber ones in that they are also synthetic mats but they are a lot more durable and don't smell as bad when it's hot. Vinyl mats are usually better at staying in place than rubber ones thanks to their rubber backing, something that, oddly enough, not all rubber mats have.

Nomad

The name of these mats can be deceiving but to put it simply they have thick and curly fibres that are able to absorb moisture quite well. Nomad car mats are also rather comfortable and provide good sound insulation however they are not as easy to clean as any of the above mats.

Important Factors of Car Mats

Spills

Spills are not important, but rather the spill containment that the mats provide. It could be in the form of ridges and channels or a soaking material like that of fabric car floor mats. The former is better but if there isn't a lot of rain in your area or if you don't bring brinks in your car, then you could go with a mat that soaks in fluids.

Backing

The backside of mats is as important as the side you put your feet on. In order for the mats to not slide around they should have either rubber spikes or a rubber surface on the back to prevent the wet from making the mat slide around. This is a lot safer than having a regular mat without any anti-slip backing.

Compatibility

Last but not least, a proper car mat should be able to fit in your car meaning it should be made for the make and model car you have. Otherwise, 3D or not it will bend up and make be a lot more docility to remove it when you need to clean the mat.
